The Biglekha Press Club honored two journalists.
According to our correspondent from Biglekha, the president of the Biglekha Press Club, senior journalist Anwarul Islam, received the Nepal International Excellence Gold Award-2024, and expatriate journalist Abdur Rob Bhutto, editor of the London Bangla Channel and a talk show personality, was welcomed back to his homeland.
The Biglekha Press Club organized this reception on Sunday night at the Yammi Restaurant in Biglekha town.
At the beginning of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the late member of the Biglekha Press Club, Mainul Islam, who passed away on November 21.
Deep condolences were also expressed to the grieving family members of the deceased.
The chief guest at the event was Mohammad Niyaz Uddin, the acting principal of Biglekha Government Degree College.
The meeting was chaired by the vice president of the Press Club, Mohammad Khalilur Rahman, and was conducted by the general secretary, Abdur Rob.
Special guests included prominent politician and social worker Professor Abdus Shahid Khan, and political figure and madrasa teacher Kazi Enamul Haque.
The honored guests, Abdur Rob Bhutto, editor of the London Bangla Channel, and Anwarul Islam, president of the Biglekha Press Club, delivered speeches.
The welcome address was given by the former general secretary of the Press Club, Advocate Gopal Chandra Dutta.
Others who spoke included the Press Club's vice president Iqbal Hossain Swapan, member Liton Sharif, organizational secretary Kazi Ramiz Uddin, joint general secretaries Hasan Shamim and Jalal Ahmed, treasurer Sultan Ahmed Khalil, journalist Azad Bahar Jalali, publicity secretary Tapan Kumar Das, and member Mustafa Uddin, among others.
Later, the guests presented honors to the two distinguished journalists on behalf of the Press Club.
