In the BPL, has Usman set a new record ?

In the BPL, has Usman set a new record. On a foggy winter afternoon at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Usman Khan unleashed a flood of runs.

In the seventh match of this season's BPL, the first century was scored.

The Pakistani opener for Chattogram Kings played a magnificent innings of 123 runs off just 62 balls, hitting 13 fours and 6 sixes, leading his team to a massive total of 219 runs.

This is the highest team total in BPL history at Mirpur. Previously, in the 2020 season, Khulna set the record with 218 runs at Mirpur.

However, the overall highest team total in BPL still belongs to Rangpur Riders, who scored 239 runs on the soil of Chattogram in 2019.

After losing the toss and opting to bat, Chattogram did not have a good start.

On the second ball of the innings, Parvez Hossain Emon was caught off a delivery from Taskin Ahmed.

However, this was when Usman Khan's dominance began.

Alongside English batter Graham Clark, Usman formed a significant partnership of 120 runs for the second wicket off 63 balls.

Although Clark was out for 40 runs off Sohag Gazi's delivery, Usman's run flow continued unabated.

In partnership with Mohammad Mithun for the third wicket, Usman quickly surpassed fifty and was racing towards a century, adding another 63 runs.

Ultimately, he reached his second century in BPL career off 48 balls.

He had scored his first century of the 2023 BPL against Khulna, and now he achieved it against a formidable Rajshahi.

When Usman was out for 123 runs off Taskin Ahmed's delivery, Chattogram's innings lost some momentum.

Although other batters could not play significant innings, the team managed to reach a total of 219 runs in the allotted 20 overs, setting a new record in the history of Mirpur.
